Watertown Square (MBTA station)

Watertown Square in Watertown, Massachusetts is the termination point of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's route 71 trackless trolley and the 59 bus. Buses 70 and 70A pass through Watertown Square. and stop on Main Street on the north side of the bus loop.

Watertown Yard (also known as Watertown Carhouse) is located across the Charles River from Watertown Square and was formerly the terminus of the Green Line "A" Branch. It was used to store and service streetcars even well after the replacement of the Green Line "A" Branch by bus route 57, and even for a few years after the removal of the tracks on this route. (Despite the 1994-6 removal of A Branch tracks, the carhouse is still fully tracked). Wrecked MBTA Type 7 streetcar #3648 is still stored there. Until January 2006, it was also used for servicing, storage, and testing of new dual-mode buses and trolleybuses that the MBTA had purchased but not yet accepted into regular service; after 2006 the equipment was put into general service use. It is the terminus of bus routes 52, 57, 502, 504, and 555; the 59 bus stops as well.
